Bandcamp Friday: Dog Days of Summer

(Clockwise from top right yyeahsure, Bruce Wain, Love and Other Emotions, Cobra Whip, MB. Hunt, Buff Pups)

Show and tour announcements are abundant but some loyal music makers are still putting in hours in the studio and pumping out the jams. We love to make it easy for our readers to find new local music so we put together another eclectic and diverse Bandcamp Friday round up for your enjoyment. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates 100% of the earnings made on that day back to the musicians by waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it!

yyeahsure

Newark

After six months of writing, tracking, and recording Jack "yyeahsure" Seiffert  released a demo of six original tunes, July 1. Although it’s titled DEMOS, this collection of music could be played right along with any other local artists’ EPs or albums. It begins with a raw passionate live acoustic recording of a song they wrote with friends Ryan Janzen, Nathan Bovankovich, and Josh Berl “Electric Sigh”. Later the music moves on to digital madness with “THANK GOD FOR ACID”.

Bruce Wain

Newark conscious rapper Bruce Wain has partnered up with EJ Everyday to produce “Don’t Do Drugs'' a nine song collection of hip hop tracks released on June 21. Any fan of the boom bap style hip-hop or the technique of sampling underground movies is going to have a field day with this one. There was talk of a second EP release from EJ Everyday soon to follow.

Love and Other Emotions

Love and Other Emotions gives us ethereal ambient daydreams with their double release on June 30. Songs Daisy and Cosmo Knot are both electronic pop tunes that are catchy, relatable  and ready to be in rotation.

Buff Pups

Emo punk rock band Buff Pups gives us something to celebrate on July 4 with their first Bandcamp music release, an eight-song album Stoney Bologna. The guitar is gainey, the drums are fast, and the lyrics are loud and sad just the way a true emo fan likes it.

MB. Hunt

Wilmington native MB. Hunt gave us something to freestyle to June 27, when they released Book Of Abraham. This beat tape has four original ambient, electronic, loopy instrumentals that we’re itching to share.

Cobra Whip

Wilmington high-voltage hard rock band Cobra Whip is making the list with their first ever Bandcamp release …Must Die. Released on July 6, this six song collection will have you swinging around your long locs and headbanging the whole ride through.
