Bandcamp Friday Roundup; April Showers 2023

Spring has finally sprung and we’re excited to bring some fresh new picks for this month's Bandcamp Friday roundup. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates the earnings made on that day to waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it. Stop by and spread a little local love and support if you enjoy it.

If you’re a local musician and have new music coming out, send it to us to be included here

(From clockwise starting from the top left; Cypher Clique, Russy, Beyah, The Dustin Manuccia Trio, Chuck N Lock, Death By Indie)

Cypher Clique

Dover rap trio Cypher Clique is back with an appropriately named six song EP Good Times self released April 4, just in time for Bandcamp Friday. ‘Durango’, the first single out, features another Delaware rapper, Sitherage, and is a foreshadowing for more music for warmer weather, BBQ’s, and fun memorable nights with friends.

Russy

Bedroom Delaware native and West Philadelphia transplant, Russy, has resurfaced with a fresh batch of tunes written, recorded, mixed and mastered in their home studio. Russ’ three-song collection, End Of Tapes Vol III, is charming, catchy, and vulnerable.

Beyah

Dover rapper Beyah just released what’s described on their official Bandcamp page as the first of a series of collaborations between themselves and producer Digga. We can only hope so, as this first installment of music, a thirteen song album entitled GSW II, is full of honest, gritty and sometimes political lyrics and boombap instrumentals. Delaware Chuck, another local rapper with lots of street cred, pops up as a feature in multiple tracks.

The Dustin Manucci Trio

You’re probably used to seeing Dustin Manucci as a hired gun guitarist in numerous local bands. In The Dustin Manucci Trio (DMT) he’s bringing that sleek look and rocking guitar playing to the forefront. Their debut release Buy the rumour, sell the news features four songs seeped in blues, prog rock, and mind blowing guitar.

Chuck N Lock

In their first Bandcamp release since 2020, Wilmington rap duo Chuck N Lock are back with a plethora of catchy samples, hooks, and witty lyrics.  SEE XL is a nine-song album self-released, mixed and mastered by Timepiece, and out for your streaming pleasure since March 3.

Death By Indie

The pop punk trio Death By Indie recently released an experimental punk-rock five-song EP, No Wave Veggie Dogs. Notes on their site claim that all songs on the collection are first takes and minimally adjusted to maintain the raw energy that went into recording them with instructions to ‘Play LOUD’.They’ve currently been breaking into the Philadelphia music scene but you can catch them next in Delaware on May 16th at Rainbow Records.
