Nicole Zell is Waking Up To Her Own Magic in Latest Music Video from Debut Solo Project
Widely recognized as the lead singer of electronic alt-pop band THRILLCHASER, Nicole Zell is stepping out solo to tell her own personal stories in her own charming and spellbinding way. Ladybug Music Festival Alumni and long time friend of Gable Music Ventures, Zell is waking up to her own magic in the official video for ‘7 Years’, the first single released on the singer's birthday from her debut solo album Asleep To My Own Magic, independently released on November 11.
I'd evaluate my position
Around the age of 27
Now it's time for me to fold, to bend and break
Shot and directed by Lolife, the video is more of a short film than a simple music video including dialogue and mesmerizing story telling. The scene opens as the shot pulls back to show twigs, flowers, and forest debris in a pond or natural body of water. The familiar sound of water rushing and a conversation between Zell and some unknown stranger chatting about the pull of breaking out solo. The far away hazy dialogue is the soundtrack for the visuals of drying flowers and Zell holding a beautiful bouquet as the sun warms her angelic face. We find out it’s a dream sequence when we cut to a scene of Zell in her bed. After getting herself awake she calls a friend to leave a longing voicemail asking for encouragement.
We follow Zell as she gets herself up out of the bed to prepare herself for a day of reflection and manifestation. She pulls energy from the elements as she wades in the water of a nearby creek and sings with all the power in her lungs, as the wind whips around her moving her hair like the branches in some enchanting forest. Our singer finds old pictures of herself playing music as a child in a simpler time and surrounds herself with them as tokens to help her on her path back to her true self.
Going back won't be easy
To face the girl I used to be
Going back won't be easy
But I gotta find her to find me
She crosses the yard from her home to an old farm building. Inside, the dust covers everything in sight. A guitar case sits standing up against the wall on the other side of the structure. She opens it and gently strums the strings on a beautiful jet black acoustic guitar, remembering good times with the instrument. Our singer is back and in her full power as she lights the candles on her own birthday cake. Her last words “7 years already. Holding it all in. But you better get ready.Cause now I'm back again” hit you true and clear, right before she blows out her candles, leaving you on the edge of your seat with anticipation.
