Bands on Fire! Winter 2022

The flowers are blooming and the bands are out! It’s exciting to see tour announcements rolling out in place of cancellations. Before we shake off our winter coats and hang up our wool hats, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on some of the musicians who braved the cold to keep us entertained and inspired.

Catbite

Catbite is a ska band based in Philadelphia who stopped by Arden in 2021 for Shady Grove Music Fest. Their high energy performance quickly titillated the crowd into a frenzy of dancing skanking bodies. They have been announcing tours, music videos, and live sessions ever since. Follow them online to find out when they’ll be opening for The English Beat, Mustard Plug, Screaming Females, and Jeff Rosenstock. If you’re in the Delaware area they’ll be playing The Queen May 2 with We Are The Union and Eve 6.

Alena Ciera

Alena Ciera is a musician who made her Delaware debut during the 2019 Ladybug Music Festival with her band 1Identity. Since then she’s been working on a solo project and honing in on her skills as a guitarist, dividing her time between multiple bands eventually grabbing the attention of Guitar Girl Mag. Last  winter she took to the stage with the legendary David Byrne from The Talking Heads. He gathered a group of international musicians to perform songs from the hit Broadway musical “American Utopia”. Watch the video here and follow Alena for more of her original music and behind the scenes travels as a musician.

In April, Holly G decided to create an environment safe for black country folk and Americana artists. Not even a year later the group has grown in numbers and has received national press. When they stopped by Philadelphia they reached out to Delaware native and front person of Hoochi Coochi, Sug Daniels, to join a singer in the round at City Winery. Check out the NPR Live Session she did along with the rest of the Black Opry Revue line up to.
