Bandcamp Friday Round Up: A Labor Day of Love

(Clockwise from top right Russy, MONTE, Death By Indie, Parson Hex, Meet The Bug, Sudler’s Row )

Bandcamp Friday officially returning for the rest of the year is an absolute cause for celebration.  The site posted no clear warning they wouldn’t continue the tradition on June 3rd so please be sure to check out our latest and our last roundup of exceptional local musicians to support. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates 100% of the earnings made on that day back to the musicians by waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it!

Death By Indie

If you missed Death By Indie at this year's Shady Grove Music Festival then today’s your lucky day. Death by Indie is an art-punk band from Wilmington that plays energetic originals about the silly and serious facets of everyday life, who just released a 9-song EP titled Paeonia digitally on August 20. Their merch store is stocked with all kinds of fun stuff like t-shirts, tote bags, CDs and cassette tapes from previous releases.

Russy

Russy, a Philadelphia artist with Delaware roots, released Fussy, an 11-song EP packed full of some of the sweetest experimental, bedroom, shoegaze bops you never knew you needed. Every hit was written, performed, produced and mixed by Russy and mastered by Andy Tyler Clarke at Retrocity Studios in Philadelphia. The page even includes limited edition cassette tapes with all proceeds going to Front Line Meals and Reparations, based out of Philadelphia.

Monte

MONTE is a power-rock trio from New York City who came to Delaware and rocked the crowd at Milford’s Ladybug Music Festival in July. If you missed their lusty, lovely, angsty performance, their latest release, This Is MONTE, will not disappoint. This 5-song EP, released on July 15, has enough energy to pack an arena and it’s no surprise, with big big credits including platinum record producer Barb Morrison and tracking and mixing by Grammy Award nominated Jonathan Jetter, Jeremy Kinney and Matt Graff.

Parson Hex

Wilmington-based electro pop music maker Parson Hex is back with more fun, bouncy and brilliant music. Their latest release, Parson’s Hextras, was released July 5 and the title, appreciating a good pun, leads us to believe it’s a follow up to Ge0de, a five-song EP released only in June.

Meet The Bug

Philadelphia singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Meet The Bug just released a new single, BettyJo, on June 17 and it’s a tender story of vulnerability and openness. This bedroom pop, sapphic proclamation of love is executed perfectly in the form of beautiful harmonies, catchy melodies, and pro level production.

Sudler’s Row

Sudler's Row is a progressive rock project from Dover Delaware and they are taking us all for an epic sci-fi journey with their latest release, Rexx Baxter of the 33rd Galactic Fleet (Chapter 1). Self-released July 29, the songs, in succession, tell the story through fanciful arrangements, lazer swooshes, explosions and heavy metal guitar of an adventurer. Fingers crossed the next chapter will be following shortly.
