Bandcamp Friday Round Up;  June 2024

(Clockwise: Death by Indie, E. Shawn Qaissaunee & Jim Ridl, Cypher Clique, Jade Tree, Giant Walking Eye, Sug Daniels)

Summer starts this month, and we’ve got some hot new music to prove it. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates the earnings made on that day to waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it. Stop by and spread a little local love and support if you enjoy it.

If you’re a musician who wants to be featured in The Gable Verse, send your Bandcamp links here.

Death by Indie

Death by Indie is a Wilmington-based indie punk band who’s been busy touring around the region in celebration of their album, 7 Day Farmers Market. The full-length album was released on May 4 and titled in memory of the beloved grocery store, with artwork from Yarissa Luna. You can stream several songs on the band’s Bandcamp or buy a CD of the album in a clear jewel case with a booklet inside.

E. Shawn Qaissaunee & Jim Ridl

Wilmington, Delaware-based multi-instrumentalist best known for his chops in all things guitar, E. Shawn Qaissaunee, has teamed up with piano virtuoso Jim Ridl, and Producer Samuel Nobles, for a full-length album, Boardwalk Waltz. E. Shawn Qaissaunee is Berklee College of Music alumnus and shines through with his intricate and intentional guitar riffs and arrangements.

Giant Walking Eye

Lead singer from Wilmington indie punk-rock band Pennydeath has a new solo acoustic project out under the moniker Giant Walking Eye. He recently released an EP of warm and raw demos on a tape recorder titled god is a coward and at least that’s something to debut the new project on Bandcamp.

Sug Daniels

Delaware-born, Philadelphia-based artist Sug Daniels is back with an Americana folk rock tune “Leave A Light On”, self released on April 29. This song features a larger-than-life horn section with a full-on saxophone solo from none other than Ladybug Music Festival Alumni The Side Chick’s Staci Fink. Check out the song and merch store on Daniels’ Bandcamp and see Sug Daniels & The Sweet Boys playing full band on June 29 at The Kennett Flash in Kennett Square. Get tickets on sale here.
