Blue Earl Brewery

Once you’ve mastered the bass guitar, joined a blues band, and traveled all over to play for folks in clubs and bars for YEARS -there’s only one logical thing to do...open a brewery and invite all your music pals to come play! That’s what Ronnie Price did in 2014 in the Historic town of Smyrna when he opened the doors to Blue Earl Brewery, and he hasn’t looked back.

The 7th microbrewery in the first state, Blue Earl Brewery has been the happening place for musicians from all skill levels to get their musical chops up. The open blues jams are usually well attended, with seasoned musicians and new players who come to be inspired and learn. In the warmer weather, the brewery hosts several outdoor events like Red White & Blues Fourth of July Celebration, Shazzizle Music Festival, and The Food Truck Competition in their large industrial-sized yard. In the past, Ronnie has teamed up with music organizations like Delaware Friends of Folk and The Delaware Blues Society to support the musicians and the local organizations that employ and advocate for them.

What sets your place apart from the other music venues?

I think it’s the vibe of the brewery juke joint atmosphere, back in an industrial park. The last place you’d expect to experience live music…or maybe not. We are very consistent with live music…every week and weekend there is something going on musically. Plus, I’m a bass player and drummer that’s been on the tri-state music scene for decades. Music is in my blood, sweat and tears. There’s music streaming non-stop at the brewery and wherever I go. Don’t stop the rock baby!”

With all the excitement from live music you almost forget this place has a massive beer selection and delicious hot bar treats. The brewery has a spacious tasting room and a family atmosphere so the kids can hang with dad as he fills up on tasty beer, mouthwatering appetizers, and world-class music. Beer can be bought on-site to avoid the liquor store prices, and you can sleep easy knowing the cans' playful designs come from local artist Emily Brymer. Local collaborations like that always sound good to us.

What can we look forward to in the future from Blue Earl Brewery?

“More…music…all the time! I plan to execute the Shazizzle Music Fest in October 2022. I also plan to host more open jam sessions. The very successful Blues Jam will be going strong, as well as our weekly shows. The more live music the better is what I say!”

Ronnie is not just the owner but an active part of the brewery’s ambiance, oftentimes hosting the brewery’s events, chatting with the regulars, and joking around with the friendly (and always smiling!) beer tenders. With high hopes for the future, Ronnie and Blue Earl Brewery are determined to continue bringing live music and great beer to the locals, their families, and the musicians who need a stage. Check out their website and follow them online to keep up with their events.
